Chapter 19 - Dark
“Silversong…” Fallenwings sobbed, “I’ll… be back.” He heaved himself away from his father and scanned the fighting cats. Blood and fighting cats screechs drenched the clearing with fear. and Foxclaw, Fadedlight, Midnightpelt, Smokecloud, and Flamebreeze’s bodies lay around the camp. Three dark brown rogues, a yellow one, and a tan and brown rogue’s bodies were also scattered around the battle scene. Fallenwings sighed as grief washed over him for the dead warriors. He glanced around and found Moonflame was still battling the red and white rogue, and the ginger and amber one outside of the nursery. The deputy was losing as the rogues drove him further and further from the nursery. Fallenwings sprinted over and pinned the red and white she-cat down, unsheathing his claws.
She hissed, pulling herself out of his grasp, and quickly dealing him a blow to one of his ears.
Fallenwings growled, flattening his ears and flexing his paws. As the rogue sprang at him, he flattened his body to the ground very low and darted forward. She fell to the ground with a satisfying crunch. Fallenwings spun around and pinned her again before she could get up, more firmly than the last time. He tore his claw down one of her sides, and then the other.
“Leave.” He whispered, loosening his grasp.
The she-cat pulled herself out, fear in her eyes, blood streaming from her wounds, and ran out of camp.
As soon as the rogue was gone, he turned towards Moonflame, who had pure panic in his eyes. Fallenwings looked up, to see an inky black rogue. A stone formed in his belly, and he froze in place.
The rogue called Dark had him pinned, claw at his throat. He turned towards Fallenwings, his gaze boring into him.
“Tell my siblings I’m sorry. Especially Pinknose, she wouldn’t want her mate dead would she? Too bad. If I want your territory for my own, I need all the cats of power dead.” Dark flicked his tail to Silentstar, who had just fallen over, wounds welling up with blood. “And if you see my idiotic kittypet parents, tell them I’m coming for them next.”
“Well who are your parents?” Fallenwings asked, shaking with fear as he inched closer, trying to drag out the conversation.
“Void and Diamond. But anyways. STOP DISTRACTNG ME!” Dark angrily replied, noticing Fallenwings.
Fallenwings froze, glancing around for Mintpaw to help.
“Now little deputy. Say goodbye.” Dark maliciously meowed, pressing his claw harder on Moonflame’s throat.
One of the deputy’s kits, Bluekit and his twin Frostkit had escaped from the den to see what was happening. They stared at Dark in horror, but the rogue didn’t see them.
Dark ripped his claws through the deputy’s throat, blood splattering everywhere. Moonflame let out a piercing shriek.
Fallenwings gasped, partly at Dark, and partly because Mintpaw had just appeared behind the rogue.
“HEY MURDERER!” Mintpaw screeched at Dark. The black furred rogue spun around, looking for the source of the noise. Mintpaw then pounced on Dark, making him lose his footing. Then the two cats started clawing at each other.
Fallenwings took this moment to drag Moonflame slightly away, and shove the shocked Bluekit and Frostkit into the nursery. Finally he leaped toward the blood spattered rogue and pinned him down. Mintpaw stepped a little farther away, letting Fallenwings do what he had been waiting for.
“This is for what you and your rogues did to Silversong!” He hissed into Dark’s face, ripping his ear.
Dark stared at him, eyes showing fear for the first time.
“And this is for what you did to my clan!” Fallenwings ripped Dark’s throat with a screech, just as the rogue had just done Moonflame. And then the battle was over and silence filled the gordge.
