Chapter 27 - Tree
Mintleaf was padding next to Fallenwings, still sorting out her thoughts. He is never going to let me live the meeting with Waspflight down. I still can’t believe he did that. Who abandons their clan to chase after a cat? Well, I guess Waspflight does. I hope he’s ok… and hopefully Silentstar didn’t give him apprentice tasks because of this. MINTLEAF THAT IS NOT YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITY!!! You are supposed to find a clan that your dead sister told you to. Also, the directions were totally “not'' vague. Also, if you don’t succeed, your clan will fall.
*CRUNCH*
Waspflight?!
“Oops, I totally did not see that stick there” Fallenwings said teasingly.
Can’t Fallenwings give me a break about that!? Mintleaf thought with a sour look at Fallenwings. She waded through a small river they were crossing.
“What do we do when the sun comes up?” she asked Fallenwings.
“We probably continue in the same direction” Fallenwings meowed.
“Right, but what if we get lost” Mintleaf unsurely ripleyed.
“We wait for nightfall and we continue then” Fallenwings sighed.
“I guess you’re right” Mintleaf mewed, trying not to annoy her adopted father.
They continued through branches and over fallen trees. Mintleaf stopped to look at one in particular…
“FALLENWINGS!!!” She yowled.
“What?” He asked, padding over.
“This is that tree that almost fell on me and Leaf!!!!” Mintleaf mewed.
“Really?” Fallenwings asked “There a millions of fallen trees here”
“This is it I know it!!” Mintleaf meowed, defiant. “It really is…”
She touched her paw onto the rough bark, remembering what Leaf had shown her.
“We should get going, we don’t want to slow down the mission.” Fallenwings
said gently, touching his tail tip on Mintleaf’s shoulder.
“Yeah” Mintleaf meowed quietly, slowly turning away from the tree. Grief for
the sister she never knew she had filled her heart. Mintleaf tried to snap out of it, but she couldn't.
With that, the pair continued on their journey.
