Chapter 29 - Unexpected Visitors For The Cats Of Rain
Mintleaf stared out at the rainforest, admiring the view. The cats of rain!
“Fallenwings! This is where we were supposed to go! The cats of rain! The rainforest!” Mintleaf excitedly meowed. Their three - day long walk was coming to an end.
Fallenwings sprinted down the hill, and Mintleaf followed quickly. They raced through the trees as the environment slowly turned to rainforest, alert for any other cats in the area. They scented none for a while, until after a minute of running, Mintleaf sented a cat, one she had never smelled before.
“Fallenwings?” She asked tentatively, as to not alert whatever cats were around. “Do you smell that?”
“Yes. I scented maybe ten?” He replied, nervously, looking around.
They kept on walking for a while, until suddenly something fluffy and yellow fell on Fallenwings. Mintleaf immediately jumped in surprise. Now, the fluffy thing was looking at her, holding a woven flat thing. Then, more fluffy things fell all around them.
“Wha?” Mintleaf meowed in surprise and confusion. Had they found the cats of rain? Or unfriendly attackers?
Fallenwings had gotten out of the yellow fluffy thing’s hold, and now his fur was fluffing in surprise.
“Who are you?” Fallenwings asked the fluffy things that turned out to be cats.
“Someone get Orchidlilly”. The yellow cat meowed to her companions. A green cat scampered up a tree.
“Who-” Mintleaf mewed before being cut off by another cat’s arrival. A light pink, light orange, and white she-cat with orange eyes climbed down the tree.
“What did you need?” The she-cat who was apparently Orchidlily asked, padding towards the cats, not seeing Mintleaf.
“We need to find the cats of rain.” Mintleaf mewed, not liking being not noticed.
Orchidlily froze and took a step back. Her face was full of shock.
“What is it?” Mintleaf asked.
“I- I-” Orchidlily stammered. Then she suddenly seemed to find her voice and murmured, “Welcome to RainTribe, my daughter.”
